Kolab integrates mobile devices via SyncML
|
Kolab Konsortium and Pardus have implemented an extension
to the Kolab Webclient for Univention GmbH,
which allows users to connect mobile devices
directly to the groupware server. Now it is possible to synchronize appointment
times and contact information being offroad.
This was done by integrating the SyncML protocol into the Horde part of Kolab
server. SyncML is a platform independent standard designed for the exchange of
data between servers, clients and mobile devices.
The Horde interface is going to be integrated into Kolab Server/OpenPKG 2.2.0
as a beta version. Version 2.2.1 is then expected to integrate the SyncML
extensions for tasks and contacts.
In Univention's UGS the SyncML extensions are available as release candidates
for testing purposes.

Kolab Storage Format Draft as PDF
|

for saving its data on the server. This has been discussed on the format
list and specs are in CVS. Now a draft pdf version is available in
the
documentation section.
Freebusy handling, directory server architecure
and lack of legacy support make it slightly different,
but Citatel/UX v6.21 was fully tested with KDE Kolab1 Clients.
A new security advisory for the Kolab server is available. Users are urged
to update as soon as possible.
The currently in-development Kolab Webclient has been updated with several
new features.
Kolab2 development has kicked off. Join the development list if you would
like to be a part of shaping the next generation Kolab server.
